    Hi,

when I was pregnant in 2009, the CWO gave me 3 cheques:

1 to help with maternity clothes
2 to sort the hospital bag
    3 towards cot and buggy

my question is whether anyone else knows about when the first of these are generally distributed or whether they are done anymore

Much more difficult to get now, or at least the CWO stick strictly to the operational guidelines now. I doubt you would get another cot, as its reasonable to expect that you are finished with the cot you bought in 2009 and that it would still be in good condition. It all depends on your "need" really. I don't think you'll get maternity clothes either, they are a bit of a luxury. I know the CWO where I live has been referring girls to the St. Vincent due Paul who will make the mum up a bag for both herself and baby, nappies baby wipes the lot. Its an "Exceptional Needs Payment' your looking for when you go to see the CWO.

Unfortunately depending on your personal circumstances it's unlikely. Maternity is not an unforeseen event and you have 9 months to prepare.
