How are European ballots kept secure after local elections?

As you know, whenever we vote on more than one ballot we put both of them in the same box, the locals were counted on Saturday but what did they do with the European papers to make sure that there was no tampering?

They are sorted when the ballot boxes are opened to count the local election results, and they are then transported to the relevant count center where they are kept under guard until they are opened.

I saw tens of thousands of ballots being transported by sack at one stage in Citywest. They were put into a truck and transported to the RDS under Garda escort.

No they go back in different boxes and brought by Army and armed Garda escort, once in the center they are looked after by security and armed guard at night.
