    Hi,

I am 20 years old and am from a small town in Mayo. i attended gmit in Galway but dropped out due to financial reasons. A couple of months ago i signed onto Jobseekers and i receive 100 a week due to being under 25.

There is no work in my town and i have also been unable to secure work in galway either. However i am looking at apprenticeships through Jobbridge in Galway and it says that they go on for between 6-9 months and between 30-40 hours a week generally and you receive 50 euro extra on top of a social welfare payment which would make it 150 pw. This seems like a disgraceful amount of money considering i will have to pay rent/esb among other necessities such as food and sundries. What are peoples experiences in Galway preferably but anywhere will do in regards to not only Jobbridge but to Social Welfare payments and Rent allowance in general as i don`t see any way of kickstarting my life if i cant pay for anything and i find it strange that to get rent allowance you already have to be renting a house? How is that supposed to work if i can`t afford to live there in the first place?

Any information will be appreciated :)

I'm from a small village on the galway mayo border and did a job bridge in tuam last year.
To be honest. It cost me money to do it. As j wad easily spending the 50e allowance on petrol. but it did get me out of the house and give me a reason to get up every morning.
It depends on your motivation I guess
