I see there is free custom fitting in Leopardstown driving range for one week. Is there a catch here- would price be added to clubs bought? What type of money would you expect to pay for driver.
The reason I ask is because I've a regular shaft driver and 3 wood and a stiff shaft 18 degree rescue which I'm hitting further than 3 wood and almost as far as driver. Thinking stiff shaft driver would get me a few more yards.

a stiff shaft won't gain you any yards. In theory the softer the shaft the more length, but less control.

that said a regular flex is not always a regular flex shaft...

By that theory you should be able to hit a Ladies shafted club miles further if you could control it. Not buying it.

that's the theory - I don't buy that's its a simple linear progression. Control being the key point. Karsten used to advocate playing with the stiffest shaft possible for control. But the initial point is also not correct. A stiffer shaft will not add more distance, it might tighten up dispersion but assuming you get two shafts that have the same playing characteristics but one if a regular flex and one a stiff - the distance should be longer with the regular.

Two shafts with the same characteristics but one reg and one stiff will play differently both dspersion and difference.
If a shaft is too soft for your wing speed you will lose distance same goes if its too stiff.
Shaft flex works when suited to your swing speed if shaft is too soft you might generally find a very high ball flight due to too much backspin created by the shaft releasing too early
opposite applies to a shaft that is too stiff. Generally low right ball flight because not enough swing speed to release shaft properly
