Should I ring to see if they got my application?

I applied for a job through a well known jobs website last week. I have all the experience they're looking for and a bit more. I can start immediately too. The jobs are still being advertised and I have had no contact from the company. Would it be a bad idea to contact the company to see if they got the application? Should I just let it be? I'm really desperate to get a job and this is one I really think I would be perfect for.

I can't really think of a good reason to not ring them tbh.

If the closing date for the applications hasn't passed yet they may be putting them all to one side and waiting until then to deal with them.

I was thinking the same thing even though there's no closing date specified. Maybe if I waited until the middle of the week and then ring them?
