NCT Fail Advice

I'd the NCT test this morning. It failed on two items. Both are just visual so thankfully I can get them fixed and pop back up to get it rechecked.

    1. Two back tyres which are:
Summer & Winter Fitted on Same Axle

    2. Nearside Rear Tyre wrong direction.

The nearside rear tyre wrong direction makes sense but my question is what does Summer & Winter Fitted on same axle actually mean? Does it mean I need to buy two new tyres to replace these?

I'm going to drop up to the local garage and get them to fix the NCT fails but I would like to understand what it means.

    Different tread types.

Where these 3 tyres fitted by a 'professional'?

quick fix, visual re-test I assume. Take it to a tyre centre

I bought the car second hand back in December and haven't had to change the tyres yet so I've no idea. Would give the professional benefit of the doubt and say it was the previous owner though.

    2. means you either get one additional tyre to one of the ones on the rear you already have (probably not possible to find the exact same), so I would reckon to basically get two 2 new (or at least the same brand) tyres for the rear.

I never bother matching tyres. It might make a difference on a high performance car, but for everyday use, any legal tyre is OK IMO

Of course it should be the same size too haha, if it's a different brand it might won't matter, true, but it's good to know a lil bit about the tyre to know about it's purpose (good in wet? or general tyre).
I'm a "car person" so I would straight away recommend same brand, would bother me if it's two different ones:D
