I lost my old leaving cert book of poetry, in which was my favourite poem. I've tried googling it but to no avail. Anyone able to provide me with the text? Thanks. It goes

    Fuar Fuar
    Fuar anocht Maigh leathan Luirc
Aoirde an sneachta na an sliabh
Nil teacht ag fia ar a chuid

Is this Alan Titley article from 2010 any use?

"Anois teacht an Earraigh beidh an fuacht ag dul chun síneadh. Fuar anocht Má Leathan Loirg, is airde an sneachta ná an sliabh. Tugaimis féin an sneachta linn..." (http://www.gaelport.com/nuacht?NewsItemID=3715)

I've checked Thomas F. Walsh's excellent Favourite Poems we learned in school as Gaeilge (Mercier, 1994) and it's not there.

Thanks for the info-it's a start-he seems to be stringing together and paraphrasing some well known lines but what I want is out there.
I'm looking for the old LC Irish poetry book from early 80s-it was in that.
    Many thanks

OK. Níl aon eolas agam faoin leabhar sin ach rinné mé cuardach trí JSTOR agus fuaireas an dán i gceist. Gheobhaidh tú é sa leabhar Four Old-Irish Songs of Summer and Winter le Kuno Meyer (London, 1903), agus tá aistriuchán ar fáil ar an leathanach seo:
    Fuar, Fuar!

    Fuar, fuar
    Fuar anocht Maigh leathan loirc,
Aoirde an sneachta ná an sliabh,
Nil teacht ag an bhfia ar a chuid.

    Fuar go brath!
Do scair an doineann ar chách,
Is abha gach clais le fán
Agus is linn lán gach áth.

Is muir mhór gach loch atá lán,
    Is loch lán gach linn;
Níl dul ag each thar Áth Rois,
Ní mo raghaidh fear de chois ann.

Tá scaipeadh ar iasc Inse Fail
Mar ná fuil tráigh gan leadradh tonn,
    I mbroclasaibh ní fhanann broc,
Ní léir cloch, ní labhrann corr.

    Ní fhaghann faolchoin Choille Cuain
Sámh ná suan in uaimh na gcon:
    Ni fhaghann an dreoilín beag
Díon dá nead i Leitreach Lon.

Is olc an tuar don éan
    An ghaoth ghéar is an oighre fuar;
Ni fhaghann an Ion díon dá thaobh
Ná fothain mar ab áil i gCoillte
    Cuain.

    Seabhac Ghleann Roide Rua
On ghaoith ghéir do gheibh sé léin,
Mór a thrua agus a phian,
An t-oighre do chuaigh ina bhéal.

Éirí de choilceadh is de chlúimh
Tabhair dot aire! - níor chiallmhar
    duit,
    lomad oighre ar gach áth
Isé fáth fá n-abraim ' fuar.'
