Dublin Water affecting hair?

    Hi all

Just wondering if anyone has noticed any difference in the water in Dublin City Centre as of late or in general? I find my hair is quite flighty/static and tends to get greasy a bit faster after washing it in Dublin whereas it's fine when I wash it in a Galway (much softer/smoother). I don't use hair straighteners or colour my hair so I'm just thinking it might be the water as I haven't changed my shampoo recently.

I was googling it and from what I had read it could be something to do with hard water or mineral deposits in the water such as copper but not really sure exactly. Not sure if anyone has experienced anything similar or has any recommendations on how to combat the possible water issue?

    Thanks very much in advance.

I actually have experienced this recently. I got my hair done in dublin and even the hairdresser told me that the water in dublin tends to turn highlights brassy, I didn't really take notice of this until I washed my hair in a hotel there and noticed my highlights were definitely not as light and bright as when i wash my hair in Galway. It's annoying alright but since it's the actual water causing it I doubt there's much product you can use to resolve it.

Ya true if it's the water I'd imagine there's not much that can help just not fully sure that the water is definitely the cause of it. One of my friends mentioned trying some type of clarifying shampoo but don't really know anything about them or if that will change anything much.

I heard you can get filters to put on your shower head to soften the water.

I've seen it mentioned on here that people give a final rinse with bottled water in the shower. I'm always meaning to try it but keep forgetting.

My highlights do seem a bit brighter when I wash my hair at the gym (which has a fancy spa, so I wonder if the water is treated to be softer...). Hmm. I'm in Cork, but the water in my house is definitely quite hard.

I've noticed my hair tends to get greasy and scalp flaky quicker up here actually. Never made the connection with the water tho!

I don't know but when I'm on holiday in Spain, my hair is SO much softer and shinier and I think it's cos their water is soft. It even foams when you've got the shower running.
    Must be hard/soft water/calcium etc.
