Does anyone remember what the date (mont/year) when you had to have the household charge in by before they hit you with severe penalties.

Reason I ask is that I know I held out til the last minute but in the end I caved in an paid it but now the revenue are on saying I have not paid it and I owe them double and when I asked them this question they could not answer it.

I want to check back over my bank statements to see but I need a month/year.

As far as I know it has to be paid by the end of 2014 , and you can pay in 6 monthly instalments at this stage of year .

The household tax you refer to is 2012 liability.

I am not talking about the property tax. The original Household Charge of €100

Bad news I think...my partner didn't pay his 2012 household charge.I logged into the revenue site to pay his 2014 one recently and it had a link on the bottom that allowed me to also pay the €200 household charge..it's double now and there's talk of them adding more onto it.Try logging onto the LPT site with the info in your letter..

The Household Charge - came into force in Ireland on January 1st 2012. It only lasted a year and has now been replaced by the Local Property Tax.
Most owners of residential property in Ireland were liable for the household charge on each residential property they owned as at 1st January 2012. Home owners who lived outside Ireland were also expected to register for and and pay the charge. The 2012 Household Charge amount was set at a flat rate of €100.

From July 1st 2013 the Household Charge rose to €200 and is to be collected by Revenue along with the new Property Tax . Read more here about Unpaid Household Charge and Property Tax

Hi I am in the same position I believe I paid at last minute which was April 2013 for that Household Charge. Last month I got the letter from Revenue relating to the 2012 Household Charge. They advised I try support at householdcharge.ie to re-check their records as Revenue have not got access to their records. I have emailed them six times since mid July (got two case numbers open for the query) but they have done nothing else to assist. I believe their may be a problem with their information (records) and they are not willing to tell us that. If there are many more getting hit for that 2012 charge who believe they have genuinely paid it already i would like to know so we can all go back to Revenue and resist this double charge.
