I see there's a sale on on amazon.com. Before I buy anything, does anyone know if the steam codes are region locked or if there is an extra tax charge for buyers in Ireland on amazon? I ask because I don't see the same sale on amazon.co.uk

To buy on Amazon.com, you'll need to add a US address to your Amazon account. Make it an address from one of the states that don't have sales tax (Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, Oregon), and you'll just have to pay the advertised price.

As for being region locked, some games definitely are; Metro series, Dead Island (and I think Saint's Row too?) but best to Google whichever individual game(s) you want before hand. Most aren't, but it's better to know in advance, because I really wouldn't advise activation via VPN.

You can also check Steam Database. Enter the game you're looking for, click on the AppID and then the packages tab. There will be a list of all the versions. If you see NA at the end of any of them then you'll have a problem.
