Partitioning retail unit with existing suspended ceiling

We are planning to rent a small retail unit and subdivide it into 3 or 4 offices.

Ideally, we would like to put in a floor to ceiling glass partition to allow natural light into the middle office. The other walls can be standard plasterboard or similar material.

The unit has a suspended ceiling.
The only windows are along the front of the premises.
    Dimensions: approx. 5m x 10m.

I'd be grateful if anyone can recommend a company who does this sort of work in the Kildare area.

Sub dividing an existing office, have you sought the advice of a fire consultant before you do this work? You may need to apply for a new fire cert and also a disability cert for the works.

Better to check now, before you do the works.

    Depends on fire issues.

If it's a sprinkler issue then get lads in to change the position of them to comply with the new load out.

As for the partitions, you can screw glass patitions directly to the metal ceiling grid.

I'd be careful about that...most partition systems must continue directly up to the underside of the floor/concrete above. We are always told that the walls always go in first and ceilings are then tied into each office/wall. Probably the logic is that if a fire broke out in an office then it could travel directly along the ceilings into each office.

Thanks very much for the replies so far.

As far as I can tell, there is no sprinkler system installed and definitely no fire or intruder alarm systems.

Will contact fire consultant before signing lease.

Is the disability cert in relation to wheelchair access?

Sorry, I am a total novice at all this.

I partitioned an office in dublin with a miodino ice wall system about 8 years ago, as far as I remember we bolted an L shaped structural steel above the ceiling grid and the brackets that held the glass in place were bolted to that, then the ceiling tiles were cut to line up with the glass, it looked amazing when it was done, ill try to find some pics for you op
