BMW 3 series - key problem :-(

    Really need help, took key/fob out last night when car was in gear (very stupid I know!) The Fob now just wont go into the slot :(
    I can start the car with button get to wherever, press the button again, and it shuts off.
    The key/fob still operates the Central Locking but now displays a key symbol, with a line through it, basically easy keyless entry.
    Anyone any experience of this or know how to help??

    That happened our first e90, there was s a little sliding plate that got jammed open in the holder. I freed it off with a nail file and it worked ok but eventually fault kept coming back so had to get holder replaced.
