    Hi Folks,

Apologies if this question has been asked before. I looking to try and find out where to obtain a copy of the plans of the housing estate I live in. The reason i'm looking for them, is I need to know what way the drainage is done, and i'm assuming the plans/blueprints would show this. Would it be a case of going to the Local Council (I live in Wicklow), or is there somewhere else that would keep these ??

    Thanks for any help.

Get the planning reference for your estate.
See if the plans are online for the ref number.
If not, request them from your local planning counter (they may charge you a retrieval fee though as they could be off site in storage with a separate company, DCC do this)
Check what drainage plans were lodged and check what conditions in relation to the drainage are as you may need to seek what conditional drawings were lodged to the drainage department to comply with the drainage requirements.

After a trip to Bray Town Council yesterday and spending €30 on getting the plans (the estate was built in 1976). It turns out the drainage is a shambles. The Foul Water Drainage was never installed to the top of the estate, and there is a 4 inch pipe servicing around 10 houses before it gets to the start of the public drains. It seems the estate was taken into the care of the Council in 1993 after being deemed that the builders never finished the estate properly. Not enough street lights, no proper boundary walls ever built, kids play area never built.
