With my Titania out of the way, I fancy the outsider ballybacka queen ew to run a really big race in the 1000 guineas tomorrow. I feel the rain will do more harm to the rest of the field than her and her 2yr old form is holding up really well. She ran well a few weeks back and only got motoring a little too late. 22\1 each way is a cracking bet IMO.

Think McCoy has a good chance in every race tomorrow, so will be doing a Super Heinz on his 7 rides at Uttoxeter.

Interesting to see how Vazira gets on tomorrow at Longchamp. Ive heard that Alain De Royer Dupre plans to head to the Curragh again for the Irish Oaks if all goes to plan.

Bold Thady Quill was a very sore loss but friends reckon they will get money back tomorrow with a serious well handicapped heavy ground performer, hope so.

What are your opinions in Ireland for the 1,000 Guineas ?

I'm looking for a SOLID ew option.

AL THAKHIRA looks to have the most solid profile. Everything looks in her favour and as much as I'm looking for the winner I'd be hoping I can at least pick one to get placed at worst but pick up the prize if others under perform.

Am I on the right lines with her or do you think there is a better option for my criteria ?

Marvellous is a great ew option at around 14/1

I strongly fancy MAREMMADIAVOLA in the 2.15 and I think BEACON LODGE is the main danger.

A few non-runners in the 2:15 which thankfully makes picking a winner an easier prospect. Deegan has 4 runners which might be indicative of how much he wants to win this one....

I quite fancy Srucahan. Richard Hughes would probably have been offered a ride on a few of these, so surely the connections must fancy this one to give him the mount. Horse has course and distance form, should have no trouble on the soft/heavy ground. Backed it at 14/1 and not really sure why it's a longer shot than stable mate English Deer which is 10/1 and totally unexposed over this poor ground. The other Deegan horse I fancy is his outsider, Caprella at 33/1. Looks a big price considering how close it finished to both Srucahan and the favourite at the Curragh over similar ground quite recently. A small bit of improvement might see it get the better over both.

Bolger stable has been tipping away quite decently but have only really been cleaning up the minor races so far this year. Fancy them to pick up the 2:45 today with Theophilus. Breeding and form suggests it will have no problem with either the distance or the ground. 8/1 looks a very decent price considering it has shown as much as anything else here (discounting his stable mate).

urrgh, two more write ups accidentally deleted.

Parish Hall (3:55) at 22/1 and Newellen (4:30) at 14/1.

What were your thoughts on Newellen, put her in my tracker the last day she won over 2miles as she was wide the whole way around especially the last 4/5 furlongs and stuck to her guns and stayed on quite nicely. Really dont think the drop in distance will do her any favours today but the fact she has finally got her head in front she could be a different proposition. Think i'll leave her alone and cry when she wins

Quite fancy Nishay in the last at Uttoxeter. The Welsh point to point lads rate him as a decent prospect and his shrewd trainer has booked a decent jockey today.

I think noble mission will beat magician,
I don't think magician is as solid as everyone thinks

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,335 ✭✭✭✭UrbanSea

Noble Mission is very under priced. He has been visually impressive this season but Magician is much better than Telescope we'll know how good he is today, though this is hardly Magician's ground

    I like Caprella too,
    ew in 2.15
    Shipyard the winner I think.

Going to give Arctic one last go in the 2-15. Ground is no problem and on some of his old form he should be competitive in a race this.

Norville must be threat off low weight

It's not the visual impression he gives,I think magicians form is nothing fantastic and his best was on firm ground .on
Previous soft ground form noble missions is far better bet.

Nobel Mission has zero chance on form but the ground might bring Magician back a little.

    Rocky Bleier 20-1 4.30 ew
    Smoker 25-1 4.30 ew

I like both of these, Rocky has more to come I think while Smoker is trying hard to get off the mark.

Very interesting interview with Aidan O'Brien on RTE, saying that they are running Magician as the race is in danger of losing it's G1 status, he will hate the ground.

The whole weekend at the Curragh has been ruined from a betting perspective cos of the ground, pity!

Some tasty bets went south on Arctic today. How can a horse drawn 17 wind up on the opposite side even lower than the winner drawn 1,head scratching time.

I'm beginning to think a leg has fallen off Magician.

    Delighted for Noble Mission!

Overrated anyway but obviously better on better ground.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 713 ✭✭✭newuser89

Looking through magician form the only good bit of form was the American race on firm ground.
    Way overrated

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,898 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

    Ballybacka Queen 3.55
Thought it ran really well last time, finished very strongly.

Wonderfully 16-1 I like too. Seems too big a price, I expect it will go close.

How bad a group 1 was that at the Curragh an all out Nobel Mission beats a 100 rated mare 1 1/2 L.

Value for a lot more than winning distance.
Tired the last furlong in that ground, quickened up nicely and put the race to bed very quickly
Still it was prob group 2 performance

Epic ride by Ryan to hold it up and unleash the speed late on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,351 ✭✭✭✭Harry Angstrom

Would be an interesting runner in The Oaks, if Ryan Moore keeps the ride.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,351 ✭✭✭✭Harry Angstrom

Marvellous 10/1 with Boyle for The Oaks. Cracking price.

Looking at breeding there must be a huge influence from Galileo as the dam is by Storm Cat/Storm Bird that want a road.O Brien will run plenty to kill the pace and get Taghrooda to pull that been the case 10/1 e/w is a proper bet.Tarfasha is not out of either imo.If the ground becomes firm/ish the Coronation Cup at Royal Ascot is going to Rosewell with the brilliant Balansiya.
