How much do you think your internet/communication data is worth?

Thanks to Snowden, Wikileaks, as well as the Guardian in the UK, we all now know that our internet activity is monitored to some extent. Every click or character typed in is potentially logged somewhere. Our text messages and even our phone calls are also monitored.

With this all being said, say we had a choice beforehand to be paid for all of our personal data - how much would you ask for? Would you highball them with a large figure? Or realize that they'd probably get it for free somehow and try to get any amount at all?

Personally, I'd say each individuals information is worth between €20-€30 or so. Don't know why I picked that, just think it's an amount you'd be somewhat likely to get.

Anyhow, After Hours, let's be having ya!

    No three fiddy answers please

Could future politicians be blackmailed with the threat of revealing their personal Internet history?

Will TV shows of the future such as "Who Do You Think You Are 2100" reveal that your great grandfather liked to search for dwarf ass licking or mature face sitting?

It would certainly be more revealing than census information.

If my "incognito window" searches are ever released I'll be very upset.

When did people start believing America has the capability of capturing and storing all the data generated everyday over the internet ?

I am slightly dubious of private browsing. It's still connecting to the internet - which is a transfer of information of sorts - not sure how private that can be really.

Private browsing it to hide your porn searching viewing from your partner.

Do you mean only the Data flowing through American Fibre lines. That's slightly different to the whole internets flow of Data.

lol you're funny..what % of the world's fibre passes through there in some way? Basically if you've been on almost any site, the US know about it. And that's just what they've been found out on and admitted to.

I love how Americans are concerned with the NSA does with their data. There is billions of people online and some soccer mom in some state we have never heard of, is concerned the NSA might be monitoring her ****ing mundane life. I serious doubt they care about you googling coupons and pie receipts.

I would not bother If they actually had the capability they would have been able to stop the Boston bombings and so on. The Americans are monitoring their own people more not the rest of the worlds people. Do you not think it would be in their interests making people believe they can. I Can’t get my head around how people think it’s possible to monitor capture all the data flowing on the internet. You would have to run and maintain a larger infrastructure than the Internet it’s self.
