Hi not sure if this is in the right place but here we go.
I have a new extension built about 8 years ago and moved a new manhole outside the house 1,5 m down stream of the old one.
The old one was inspected with a camera and went up as far as next doors boundry.
The drains are in poor condition and the old man hole is in poor condition as well.
I got a couple if drain guys to look at it and they say i should reline the drain. Is this a good fix long term.
I called out an engineer and he recomends digging up my house and replacing the drain.
As you can imagine this dies not appeal tiles underfloor heating ect.
    Would relining be ok.
The drain guys think he is mad to suggust digging when we can reline with little distruption.
    Advice please.

They put a 2 meter ballon up drain and pump in an epoxy resin while deflating and inflating the ballon. This is to get epoxy resin to stick to the outer pipe. AFAIK this is a long term solution.

Only problem that can happen is if there is any fractures or nibs on old pipe that can burst the ballon then your in trouble. Very expensive if those balloons burst to the contractor I was told. It's the cheapest option than digging up.

How much did drain guy quote you to do it?

No price yet, about €160 a meter I think.
