Drive Test

    Hi,

I want to drive test a car with a vehicle telemetry device in it. The device has accelerometers in it that measure rapid acceleration.

I want to try accelerating from (rest, 10km/h & 20km/h) to a target sped of 65km/h.

Not exactly dangerous but nevertheless, I would like to try it on a quiet road on the southside somewhere or alternatively in a venue that accommodates such experiments.

Does anyone know if such a place exist in Dublin/ Ireland?

I'd check that your insurance covers you for testing of that sort. Personally I'd find a nice straight empty country road for that sort of thing.

Any long, straight R road with a wide hard shoulder should be fine, as long as you don't inconvenience anyone. Do that on Sunday morning when the traffic is absent. I assume you don't have to press any buttons / operate an equipment while you are at it, or have a passenger who do that for you.

The speeds involved don't look dangerous tbh.
