Uniroyal vs Michelin

    Tyre question from me this time.

    I am heavily disappointed with super high wear rate of Dunlop SportMaxx RTs on rear axle of my Lexus IS250. They are less than 3mm after 5000 km mild city driving. I never experienced such a high wear before. Other than the wear, they are pretty good quiet tyres.

    Goodyear Eagle F1 Assy 2s in front axle are still at 6mm.

    Anyway, I am planning to change them and looking for better wear rate without compromising comfort and grip. I don't drive at limits so I don't need super high limits grip wise. Quiter the tyre better for me.

    Here are the tyres I shortlisted :

    Michelin Primacy 3 - 175 E - Used Primacy 2 before on a lighter car. Suberb directional stability(A motorway tyre) and it was wearing very slow. It wasn't so comfortable or quiet though. Primacy 3 is supposed to be better

    Michelin PS3 - 179E - Never used them but I read they are top tyres when it comes to grip which probably means risky tyres wear wise.

    Uniroyal Rainsport 3 - 150 E - Used Rainexperts before in a much lighter car and I was delighted with every aspect of it. Super comfortable they were. Rainsports gets good reviews everywhere but I don't know how they behave in relatively heavy rwd car with soft sidewalls they generally have.

    I read reviews in tyrereviews.co.uk already. I just would like to hear your experiences regarding using those in heavier rwd cars.

    Why not go for the Eagle F1's on the rear?

    Ditto on that, never had uniroyals but have had PS3's and have F1's the uniroyals would want to be some tyre to be better than the PS3's never mind the F1's

    Asked that the shop I deal with and they said they can't even see when it will be back to stock at that size.

    I don't expect uniroyals to grip as much as PS3s but I also don't need that much grip so I can compromise a little bit grip for comfort and cheaper price

    Maybe I should search for F1s in other shops.

    personally have found the uniroyals to be a little soft in high load cars eg. front of heavy diesels , rear of higher power rwd. There a brilliant tyre used on some of my own cars but for the is I think they may wear a little to quickly
