Israel and Jordan

I am in the process of organising a trip to Israel and Jordan in October with my 62 year old mother (she is very religious).
I was in the process of booking us on a tour until it was pointed out that my Mam was apparently too old for the tour and that the only tour she would be excepted on, run by this particular company, would cost twice as much.
Can any one please recommend a tour group that excepts over 60s, or would I be better off just renting a car when we arrive and travelling by ourselves?
This trip is about my Mam and my main priority is her feeling comfortable and safe, it would be nice if she was on a tour with other people who would be of the same age and share similar interests, so if anybody could recommend an Irish based tour organiser that would be great?
We are looking for a nine day tour, but are flexible.

    Cheers guys

Purchase the flights, book hotels in the areas you want to visit.
Rent a car or simply contact the hotels in advance to ask about age restrictions on tours they are agents for.Its unlikely there would be.
There are loads of local tour companies.
Fly into and out of Amman maybe as flights there are usually cheaper in my experience.

I am stunned that a tour organiser would turn down somebody who is only 62. (Yes some of us here think that is still young:o).

OP would you mind just expanding a bit about the trip she was declined for. Was it just for students or some sort of youth trip?

This is just to satisfy my own curiosity as I have never heard of a travel company telling someone in their 60s that they are too old for a trip.

Have you tried Saga in the UK? They specialise in older travellers.

i dont know if i would hire a car and just drive around israel...there are a lot of towns and even certain streets and areas in Tel Aviv that you dont want to be driving your Israeli plate car on. I would stick to tours, even organise your own with local companies would be better idea
