Any opinions or advice on this would be appreciated hugely

My band are looking for a rehearsal space that we can rent and have access to whebever we want, leave our gear there securely and come an go as often as we like.

From what iv seen, most people recommend Volt studios as being very good, but iv also seen a lot of people say it's in a very unsafe location.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Or recommend another location to contact?

    Thanks!

    Very rare in Dublin.

try the Jam Factory on James' St

Or Creamy Sonic on Dame Court

A few years ago the band I was in rented a room in Volt studios for about a year. We experienced no problems at all, and heard no bad stories from other users.

Granted, the area did have a bad reputation, but these days IMO it is no worse than any other.

The building itself is as secure as is reasonably possible. There are alarms fitted.

Personally, if I joined another band who wanted to use Volt studios, I would have no hesitation about going back there.

My advice is to pay Volt a visit. Have a chat with the owner. From my recollection, the lads running the place were very friendly. Tell him about your reservations. I'm sure he can give you further reassurance.

In terms of area, I;m not sure you can just say its no worse than any other. There is no doubt about it, Volt is in a fairly dodgy spot. The road down to it is dark, you have to go under a tunnel and in the winter espedially it can be a bit daunting on your own. Any time I have walked down there with a guitar etc I have felt like a sitting duck. A friend of mine also had a bad expereience with some of the local kids who threatened to break in on one occasion.

That said, there is a good community of bands there and it does the job if you are looking for a permanent space. Has wi fi too which is good.

I agree that the road leading to Volt is dark. I always drove, so perhaps what you say is true if walking alone.

As for everything else, I can only relay my own personal experience of the place, which is what I have done.

Perhaps others have a different story to tell.
