I'm looking to build a system for 3D modeling work that will last a good few years.

    1. What is your budget?
    €700 - €800
    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer?
Primarily CAD work (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Adobe CS]
    3. Do you need a copy of Windows?
    No
    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer?
    Case, HDD
    5. Do you need a monitor?
    No
5a. If yes, what size do you need.
    N/A
5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? [1920x1080/1440x900/etc.]
Current resolution it 1920x1080, no plans to upgrade soon
    6. Do you need any of these peripherals?
    No
    7. Are you willing to try overclocking?
    Yes
    8. How can you pay?
    Visa Debit preferably
    9. When are you purchasing?
    Any time, I'm flexible
    10. If you need help building it, where are you based?
    N/A

    The parts I've looked at so far are as follows;

    Item|Price
    Crucial M500 120GB SATA 6GB/s 6,4CM (2,5") 7mm|€56.99
16GB Kit Crucial Ballistix Sport Series DDR3-1600, CL9|€118.15
    Intel Core i7-4770K Box, LGA1150|€288.07
    ASRock Z87 Pro3, Sockel 1150, ATX|€78.06
    Cooler Master Hyper 103|€23.09
    Corsair VS Serie VS450, Non-Modular, 80+|€33.64
    Shipping|€18.99
    Total|€616.99

And also an AMD Firepro v4900 graphics card, which come to about €160 postage/VAT/conversion included off of Amazon. So €777 in total with the listed parts.

I'm between minds on whether I should get the 4770k, or if I should opt for a Xeon E3-1230V3. The Xeon costs ~€70 less, and not needing a Z87 motherboard or a 3rd party heatsink would save me another €30, so all in all the Xeon would shave off €100. I'm comfortable with OCing, and if I were to used the i7 it's something that I definitely would do (although probably not to a water cooling extent), but I would like to know whether other people think the feature is worth the extra cost.

I'd also like to know whether or not I should hold off buying for any platform refreshes (Broadwell, Devil's Canyon). My concern here is mostly that I would like to have an upgradable system, and I wouldn't want to build on an end of life socket.

    Thanks in advance!
