active speaker repairs

    just a quick question to anyone in the know,,can active speakers be repaired,,iv just found out one of mine{behringer eurolive b115d} the sound is all distorted when i turn the volume up or down and then settles but is still not as clear as the other one,,it be a shame to bin it already as its not that old and hasnt had much use either

    Just to rule out the obvious, but have you checked the connections or tried replacing the speaker wire?

    yes double checked them and even swapped over cables and problem still persist...i think the main driver has had it im hoping ,,it ok with the volume low but turn it up and give it bass it starts to break up

    no no warranty either got em on adverts n never taught of getting reciept of the seller

    Sounds like you've blown the driver alright. They are a budget brand and obviously don't have the same volume capacity as other brands. I blew a set of KAM speakers in a similar manner years ago. Id recommend alto for a mid range alternative. the maxim 'You get what you pay for' is very true for speakers.
