How many things in the Simpson's have changed from the first episode?

Was reading an article about this during the week about the things that have changed in the Simpsons from episode to episode. Usually there is a reset at the start of every episode - but a few things have changed and evolved, I can only think of two... And they might be wrong.

Apu's kids have stayed after the end of that episode.

And Marge's mom stayed dead - is Blanche her name. I might be getting seriously mixed up here.

I can't think of anything else that has changed.

    Maude Flanders dying

Barney going sober for a while

Marge's mother Jacqueline Bouvier isn't dead, Mona Simpson, Homer's mother is currently dead but has come back before more than once.

I wonder where I am getting Blanche out of then. So easy to get confused though.

The attempts to kill Mr. Burns have stayed after the end of an episode - as they would be referred to in other episodes.

As far as I can see this is the only instance of a character being remotely named Blanche in the 25/26 seasons so far. Just put it behind you OP we all make mistakes. :)

She is dead for good this time.

    Phil Hartman

Before his death, he was talking with James L. Brooks and others about doing a live-action Troy McLure movie.
How awesome would that have been....

    Lisa is a Buddist
    Patty is gay
    Fat Tony is dead
Edna Crabapple killed off after death of voice actor Marcia Wallace.

Homer used to be intelligent, a real father figure.
Bart was the central character to begin with.
Bleeding Gum Murphy remains dead. I believed his ghost visited lisa in at least one episode.
Homer age has jumped around between different episodes..

    Patty is still gay.
Selma still has an adopted daughter.
Marge's gambling problem still gets mentioned from time to time.
Kirk and LouAnne were split up for a couple of series, though think they got back together again.

Frank Grimes, or Grimey as he liked to be called, had a son who appeared in a later episode trying to kill Homer.

In series 12/13? (open to correction), the Simpsons grow Tomacco at Grampa's old farmyard home, which burned down in season 6 when Grampa's tossing of his love tonic set off the fire.

In series 9, the Simpsons appear to regard soccer as a novel experience when the Mexico-Portugal match is advertised on TV. In series 4, Bart attended soccer training when Homer failed to collect him afterwards, an incident which prompted Bart (and subsequently Homer) to avail of the Bigger Brother program.

I think they are things that did reset after the episode rather than things which became part of the ongoing story
