where to buy a Boccia Bund

I'd like to buy something affordable, nice looking, accurate and light for everyday wear and the Boccia Bund looks like it might fit the bill. Has anyone seen them for sale recently? Any ideas on what a fair price for one might be? Issued or civilian, either might do.

They come up on the Bay from time to time. There are two versions IIRC. One was made in many thousands, the other under five hundred. Again IIRC the rarer one has two LCD displays, but don't quote me on that. The less rare example is usually/nearly always overpriced in my humble. There are a lot of them out there and even more held in stores, so when they hit the market... Again IMH they're overvalued at the mo. The under five hundred one maybe not, but the rest I'd say yes.

There's a chap on MWRforum.net called Thomas Heydolph (username namib) who seems to have access to all things ex-German military. I bought my KSK Boccia Bund (the rarer one) from him and he's very reliable; he also sells on Ebay so if you wanted the additional protection that Ebay offers (I'm being charitable) then I'm sure that might be an option. If he can't get one I'm sure he'll know a man who can and he also normally has access to the proper issue Eulit bund strap. His email address is theydolph (AT) t-online.de.

Another recommendation for Namib from me. Nice bloke. If you don't mind me asking what sort of money was the rarer one going for CB? I've seen them as BIN on the Bay for anything between 500 and 600 euros. It is defo the one to go for though if thinking of later value. Looks better too IMHO.

My Paypal records state that I paid €319 including postage in Dec 2011. Thomas had a batch available and pretty much anybody on MWR who was interested got one. Obviously without a crystal ball one can never be certain but with only a reputed 396 manufactured this has a good chance of being a bit of a sleeper.

Prices for the more general issue one seem to be heading downwards as more surplus gets released onto the market. They were going for $450 on MWR 5 years ago but they were like rocking horse **** at the time- the only source seemed to be returning ISAF troops who'd actually managed to thieve one from the Bundeswehr detachment, exchange for a poker debt or swap for some piece of Gucci kit (US Army camp bed, anyone?). I was dead chuffed when I picked up one on UK Ebay for £150 but that's nearer to what they're going for at the moment - I'd say €200 if you're in the right place at the right time. There's a civvy one doing the rounds on TZ-UK (arguably the civvy ones are rarer - but not as rare as the KSK ones) so if that pops up again I'll let you know but it would be rude not to get one with the Iron Cross on the back.

I took one to a TZ-UK gathering a couple of years ago and pretty much everybody remarked that it was the lightest watch they'd ever come across. It was a particularly fortuitous gathering for me as I met somebody on whom I managed to offload my Seiko Samurai - the KSK came up a week later and mercifully I therefore had the funds .

    Here they both are.

As I said in another thread, Carlsberg don't do watch info but if they did CB would be running the whole bloody department. :)

I know what CB means about how lightweight they are. A mate of mine sometimes has secondary non military dealings with military guys in the Middle east and he was given one(the rarer of the two) after he admired one on an American lads wrist*. Presumably he got it from a German lad in the region. I was surprised how light it was in the hand. It just looks heavier. However, it does not feel flimsy. Which is even odder. Very legible dial was what really stood out for me. Instant acquisition of the time with barely a glance. V cool watch.

*given this mate of mine is a Rolex man through and through and bought his first one at 19 and the more bling the better :D I was shocked to see it on his wrist. As he said it just appealed to him. Though he couldn't live with the original strap for some reason. Needless to say I threw a Nato on it for him. That should be on my family coat of arms at this stage. :o I;m just hoping that Isofranes become the new fashion so I can be weird again. :D Actually now that I think about this same mate might be a good one to ask about finding one on the ground...

I have been googling and I found one on the bay. I don't know if its right or not. It has Boccia where "BUND" is and has titanium written just below that. Mredsnapper, if its a legit version.... you were in first so here is the link if your interested.

Thanks for that. I'd checked out eBay.ie and .de but hadn't turned up anything.

Looks like a civilian version. Though as CB notes the civvie ones would be rarer and that looks like the already very rare one as a non military. Pity he seems to only sell to the US. Might be worth an email to him Mredsnapper. Though in my experience I've found US folks the least likely to entertain selling outside the states. BTW add .it Italian ebay into your mix, I've seen them come up there for some reason.

Hi MB, Thanks for the consideration and I am going to put a bid in, but don't let that stop you. If I don't win I still have some pretty good leads on issued ones thanks to CB and Wibbs anyway. Also, if I didnt win and you held back then that wouldn't be good either.

Thanks dude, but you wanted one first so I'm going to sit this one out. It makes no sense for two of us from the same parish to be bidding on the same watch.

Like you said, CB and Wibbs have given good leads & advice and I have no doubt that another will pop up some time in the future.

As of now there is 1 Day 16Hrs left on the auction. 0 bids at the moment, hopefully yours will be the only / winning one. ðŸ˜႒😎

Can I just take a moment to be a little more precise. My point about the civvy version is made purely on anecdotal evidence - watches coming up for sale on various fora, Ebay and licking the windows of lots of shops in Germany selling Boccia. It is purely anecdotal and does not compare to the documented figures for the other two, proper issue, versions. Sorry if I've created any confusion.

Understood CB. I've just decided that I'm going to try and get an issued version anyway. I'm sure that Boccia make lots of 'rare' civilian watches but I am sure that the issued one's will likely hold their value better in the long run. I have contacted Thomas and I will hopefully get a watch that way.
