I have an interview next week for a trainee accountant position. I have a degree but it's not in accounting. What kind of questions are they likely to ask me in the interview?

Above all else, what salary should I expect?

16,000 to 23,000 depending on your experience, qualification and the firm you are applying for.

Questions like why accountancy, are you capable of simultaneous work and study and why a small/medium/large firm as appropiate are the most common

haven't heard of 23k for a trainee position. I would say 21.5k would be the upper limit. About the interview, look at the firms for core values, services provided etc. Google them and see what theyve been up to recently. If its a competancy interview google STAR interview technique. You'l be able pre prepare for any question they throw at you. Use examples from sport etc and avoid academic if possible. Always smile and be very confident

I'd say 18k starting salary outside Dublin max?

The role is more important than salary. A few grand here or there means nothing in the long run. Nevertheless, it is tough. But focus on the role, not the salary.
