Looking at metastrom/opentext BMP software recently. Seems similar to windows workflow foundation. Is it a good career choice? Is there plenty of demand for Engineers trained in it?

I'm a .NET developer so I'm almost always based in places with Microsoft infrastructure and tools, but I've never heard of Metastorm before.

Have you checked the job sites and linked in for positions requiring experience with it? Unless there's a lot of them then I wouldn't specialise in it

I actually did that and didn't get much feedback.

Well yeah, I've used WWF quite a lot. When deciding on whether to use it in a solution, Metastorm has never presented itself as an alternative option...

I've been developing with Metastorm for many years. I wouldn't have thought there's that big a market here for developers. There's a few companies here developing with it but not that many.

Since they've been taken over by OpenText there's rumblings they'll be slowly letting it die off, as they've other BPM offerings that they'll probably focus on - so its long term prospects (5-10 years) aren't looking that good. Only time will tell.
