Disability Allowance payment not received in bank.

A relative told me this morning that her long-term weekly disability allowance payment is not in her bank account this morning.

She didn't get through on the phone to the relevant department yet to query it. She is panicking a bit as it is always there every Wednesday morning. I told her it is probably just a glitch.

Anyone else have/had payment delays with their regular disability allowance payments?

This is due to the new SEPA rules unfortunately. Payments can go into the bank any time of the day rather than first thing in the morning. Payment should be there today. Talk about a step backwards.

So far as I can tell, the only way to avoid this SEPA related unreliability of payments is to bank with the same bank as Dept. Social Welfare which seems to be the Bank of Ireland. I am finding this stressful and inconvenient and I am sure I am not the only one.

Also AIB, also no DA this morning. Thankfully I checked when I did, otherwise I'd have gone to the shop without any money in my account to buy food for the next couple days...

    Folks further info.

AIB have advised that payments are beginning to arrive in AIB/EBS accounts, they expect all accounts to be credited by 1pm today.

My relative's was resolved in the afternoon. AIB had an automated message on their phone banking, advising of delays.
