Should you give up on this career

I'm 25 years old, and I still haven't gotten a paid job in the area I studied in college. I have done internships, but still no paid work and just last week I got rejected for 3 positions, 2 paid, and another internship. Does there come a point where you have to admit that you're not good enough at a certain thing, and that you should move on and do something else?

For practicality sake I guess it's best to explore other options, but that doesn't mean you have to give up entirely on your preferred career path. Especially at only 25. That, by the way, is not a late age to have not secured work related to what you studied/trained for in college - at all. Especially if it's an area with limited job prospects. And especially in the economic "climate" of the last few years - not to mention all the others going for such jobs.

JobBridge is bound to be affecting job availability also - it's a scam of thing.

    What did you study ?

Maybe it's the type of job/proffession that is the issue not exactly your skills ?

Likely has very little to do with you not being 'good' enough. It's probably a highly competitive job's market with limited opportunities. (Just guessing.)

If I were you'd I keep persisting but try to find a small bit of time in the week for finding an alternative route. One of least resistance too. Last thing you want to do is invest in another degree. Try to find something similar to your current search but with more openings. May not be many in Ireland so unless you have personal reasons, it's probably a good idea to consider other countries. The job market is global these days and you certainly have experience.

Who says you're not good enough? Not getting a job doesn't mean you're not good enough, it just means you weren't the right "fit" for the company. If people are refusing to give you references after completing your internships then you should question whether you are good enough at it. It's a bad time for job hunting, I'm in the same position except I've years of experience, you can't take it personally because it will bury you!

    Short Answer; Yes.

Long Answer; Yes. but right now mightn't be that time yet.

    No, never give up.

Do something else to pay your way while you follow what you want to do, but never loose focus.

That's pretty embarrassing for you. You're only new and you've gone and done that.

    Everyone's laughing at you.

Fact is that you studied something and obviously passed, right?
There is nothing wrong with you. Whats wrong is the current jobs market. Its fierce out there. JobsBridge doesn't help too.

Just keep your options open. Apply for even retail work. A job is a job.

If you have to do a second internship maybe it time to have look around, you don't have to give up altogether and maybe working at something else for a while will give you new focus and refresh your outlook, sometimes you can get so focused on the one area that it becomes detrimental to your over all life and that's not good.
