    Hi,

If anyone could enlighten me it would be great!

I understand how people get ranked on the seniority list.

If applying for a post in a school, and the interview is 40% Seniority, and then 20% and 40% on capacity/role in interview... Could anyone tell me how the 40% mark for the seniority is calculated.

E.g. 5 people go for the role, and they have 10 years, 9 years, 8 years, 7 years and 6 years experience respectively in the school, how many marks do they each get?

    Thanks!

As far as I can remember it's done pro-rata.

The person who is most senior going for the position gets full marks and everyone else gets a fraction of that based on their years v. the most senior teachers year.

    E.g. : Most senior teacher = 20 years. = 40 marks

    Next teacher 16 years 16/20 = 80% so 32 marks

    Next teacher 10 years 10/20 = 50% so 20 marks.

So it can be hit and miss what you get depending on who you are going up against.

So for your example it would look like

    10 years = 40
    9 years = 36
    8 years = 32 ......

Amazing, exactly the information I was after, thanks.

Is it always 40% of the scoring for posts, or is the amount of marks at the discretion of the panel before the interview?

To be honest I don't know what percentage is given to service/seniority. It's been a few years since I did my post interview and I think it was 30%, but I work for an ETB and the weighting I think was different from Dept schools.

I know at the start of my interview (also ETB) I was told what points were being given for service and asked did I agree with the figure.

Thanks, I'm post primary, there was an interview in my school that used the 40/20/40 split, but other staff members said it was the last one that would use that and future ones would be 20/20/20/20/20, does that sound right?
    Thanks
