Politicians ignoring me! Don't they want my vote?

I just walked past Mary Fitzpatrick twice on the way to and from the shop, on the way back I standing for a while a set of traffic lights, neither she nor her entourage approached me or gave me a leaflet. Am I supposed to make the first move? I'd say I'm fairly approachable, certainly beggars approach me at the very same spot regularly.

A similar thing happened me outside a Dunnes in Galway at the last local election, the candidate ignored me twice. His platform was a bit vague so I though maybe he was a closet anti immigrant candidate. (I look a bit foreign).

Any way do you think these people are profiling passers by, bit stupid really cause I certainly won't vote for someone who won't even ask me to.

Not sure what the problem is here. You should be glad they are leaving you alone.

Im sorry but I was busy getting on with my day. The last thing I want is a politician giving me some BS reason to vote for them, when I have places to go. There was nothing stopping you approaching her and asking her a question if you felt it was that important, for your voice to be heard.

Same happened me OP . The candidate deliberately avoided me so I will not vote for her. (Not the same lady here). The Irish political establishment in term of government and opposition is quite back biting and self serving in equal measure. So OP still go to a voting station and vote. Just vote.

They seem to be only interested in front door knocking imo. They're working a numbers game off a voting register. Not interested in loose members of public where they're unsure of the approached' voting status or constituency.

You probably look like a middle income earner, they don't care for you people.

The only thing you're good for is paying huge amounts of tax and getting nothing in return.

Same here. I have a feeling the cowards are avoiding what would be a fairly, eh, lively estate.

Is that code for a swinging estate?

Yeh, kinda, I mean they'd get lynched.

Some estates are known for not being arsed voting and give the most hassle. Why would you bother canvassing if they couldn't be bothered voting? And that is not being too disillusioned to vote, just too lazy.

Good Christ, that must have been humiliating OP.

Only one thing more degrading than politicians ignoring you and that's when chuggers do.

They haven't knocked on my door, but I live in a block of flats. Not one candidate has approached me for this election so far and I live less than a km from Leinster House. They regularly call to my parents house in the suburbs, in fact the last time I called over to them they took a while to come to the door because they thought I was an other canvasser.

I've never sunken that low, thank god.

The shinners just knocked on my door, told them it was a toss up between them and FF for my first preference. Went away happy.

    Suckers!

Will they let you into the polling station on your high horse?

Why let in animals hoof no voting rights whatsoever?

Of course not, my stable boy will care for him outside.

Edit: and rather than just be scarky back to your silly comment I'll back up my earlier remark. You can look at the electoral roll and see who's registered to vote. And you'll find in some estates a lot of houses haven't bothered registering.

I've PMed several candidates on Facebook and quite a number of them couldn't be bothered to get back to me.

Mary O'Rourke's son was all 'Why not call me or make an appointment to meet me. I regard this issue as far too Complex and personal to 'discuss' via PM's on FB! Thanks'

At a previous general election I Facebook messaged every candidate 2 questions, "what are you going to do for cyclists"' "what are you going to do for people living in rented accommodation". Didn't receive a single reply.
