am heading to UK this weekend, and I've no break down cover, apart from the one bundled with car insurance, which only covers Ireland (ROI).

Car's a 06, so not sure if it's worth it, but anyone supply short term breakdown cover in the UK? I've looked at the AA, but not sure if they'll cover me, and I don't plan on being in the UK much this year, so not willing to pay a years coverage.

Haven't left myself a whole lot of time to sort this.

AA looks the way to go then

    EDIT

Just put some spurious details in and indicates €74 or €123 (depending on age of car ) for a week but does include vehicle recovery to Ireland

Crazy price to pay for weeks cover, unless someone is actually nearly sure his vehicle is going to break down.
Otherwise, it's much more worth to take a risk and in case of breakdown pay few hundred sterling for towing and accomodation in there, than paying €123 for a policy covering it.

I think I'm with you Cinio, As long as I get to the ferry port, my Irish cover would kick in from Dublin port to get me home.

Looks like I'll risk it. Got it serviced today, and got a general checkup on it, and it's in good shape.

looking at roadrescue, that's an option, I need 4 days cover.

Is that not entirely defeating the point of such insurance? I dropped €150 on travel insurance this week. Might seem ludicrous to some but when scum robbed by car state side 2 years ago it cost me €6500 (43 times my 'investment'), which the policy covered. I think it would be foolish to embark on a trip without adequate cover. A breakdown and towing won't be cheap, the accommodation alone if you had to overnight would be the cost of the policy. Just my outlook, I appreciate if others wish to chance it, nothing wrong with that either.

you should double check with your insurance most policies that have breakdown cover usually cover upto 30 days in the UK,ring and ask and if they dont ask them how much for cover could be cheaper than some of the quotes mentioned.
