Just wondering is there any site that can tell you how many of a certain car are registered in Ireland.

There is a similar site for the UK http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/

Would be interesting to see with cars such as escort cosworths or e30 M3s

If this doesn't exist would it be possible? There must be a public database somewhere that the likes of cartell and motorcheck use.

SIMI motorstats, but that's only tells you how many registered:

Thanks for that but I'm thinking more of vintage & future classic cars.
That only goes back to 2007.

I'm half toying with the idea of developing a site that'd do this, so I'm wondering would it be something the people of boards would use?

Essentially you could go in and say" How many of a certain car are left on the road?" and get an output similar to the UK site.

Provided its free like how manys left I'd certainly use it. Have the site pay for itself with ads. Not enough people will use it if it isn't free
I've always wondered how many alfas with busso's are left in the country.

I don't know if it's changed now, but many years ago, I came across a database of the numbers of specific models on the roads in the motor tax web site. Since they've gone all hi-tech and online etc. it may not still be there, but might be worth having a poke around?

Have you checked if you can access the information?
Perhaps freedom of information would allow you get it.
The statistics for Ireland should be more accurate now that cars have to be declared off the road.

There was an article in the Indo a while back where 2 Maseratis has a fender bender on Baggot St. They said there was one 200 odd (they were specific) Maseratis in Ireland.

Must see if I can dig it up, might saw where they got the info.

The data would be too inaccurate, considering how many cars get scrapped illegally.

    Here's the article

    http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/courts/what-are-the-odds-two-maseratis-involved-in-one-accident-28950211.html

It claims that there were less than 80 registered in the country at the time (January 2013). Not sure if I believe that number.

I think your biggest hurdle here will be smoked screened behind data protection. I can't see them giving you the data set. Also the data set would be worth money so they may charge for its use. You'll also be talking to a government agency stuck in the 1980s...
