Was looking in to getting a Ferry to the UK and driving to London to an event. The very could cost €250!

Similar flights cost about €80 return with €30 for sports equipment (not sure if thats return or not).

Any recommendations on which airline to travel with and/or where to rent a bike bag/box?

I paid €50 each way for the bike with Ryan Air, but 30kg allowance. Aer Lingus is 23kg (which for a hard case can be a bit of a push). Wheelworx and Cycleways rent boxes, sure other shops probably do too. These guys will transport your bike for certain events: http://www.shipmytribike.ie/index.php/main/events

Bikes are classed as bikes and not sports equipment for aer lingus. 40 euro each way if there is room. Book early to avoid disappointment.

Welcome to your new addiction :D

You might end up having to ring Aer Lingus to secure the bike box space; sometimes you can do it online, sometimes not, and I'm not sure why…

My OH just booked a bike to Leeds last night with Ryanair, it's €50 e/w.
Going to try the CTC bag again because we have one lying in the shed.
Something in these 2 posts might be helpful to you.

    Pre flight Dublin to Leeds

    Post flight Leeds

Rtn from Leeds to Dublin no issues at all, bike completely fine.

Aer Lingus don't need it to be Boxed, 40 Flat fee for a Bike, limit to 10 bikes per flight:
    AerLingus > travelinformation/baggageinformation/sportsequipment/

No issues coming from Brussels to Cork, just the once mind.
