There's an incredible lack of information or promotion for a show that's so close... I wouldn't hold your breath for something outstanding (though as always, I'm extremely open to being surprised! ;) )

Breitling wingwalkers and Trig team confirmed from their web sites .
Team Raven also from their Facebook group and the Irish Historic flight

It looks good though it'd also be nice to get flybys from some big metal that used Foynes/Shannon over the 75 years. The Catalina that appeared at the Dublin show last September would be particularly appropriate. If Concorde was still in the air, it'd be great to see given her connection with Shannon. It would be wonderful to see some proper, old school turbo props and jets. The sort of stuff that was smokey and made noise, unlike the house trained stuff around today.

Wonder is there anywhere we could get a list of the competing display teams

I have searched on the web and cannot find any info on what displays are on other than the wing walkers.

why don't you contact the Foynes Museum directly?

Well its very unusual that a "Spectacular" Airshow is taking place in two weeks time with 20 booked acts lasting three hours and no mention of what is actually displaying, very odd

Google, you may have heard of it?
    http://www.limerickleader.ie/what-s-on/arts-entertainment/foynes-gearing-up-for-spectacular-air-show-1-6133977

It mentions a Hawker Hunter, Yaks, Se5, Team Raven, SWIP and the Breitling team. Also of course the Air Corps, Eddie Goggins and Gerry Humphreys.

But you have to say their the relative lack of publicity is surprising. A single press release back in May is all you get on their website.

That article wasn't online when I asked the question. The Aviation forum here is fairly decent and when we give replies we normally don't start off with a condescending tone "google, you may have heard it". Thanks for the information anyway.

Sorry if I offended you. There was no attempt to be condescending. But you seem all too ready to take offence to what was simply a lighthearted comment!

It was. The article was posted at 7am on the 23rd. You posted 4 hours later.

OK so the poster wasn't as indepth in their online search/google-fu as they could have been. Have been guilty of that laziness myself.
However a positive outcome has been reached and the info has been shared .........can we all put the handbags down now please.

And I would agree with the general consensus that the PR has been surprisingly subdued...especially when compared to FlightFest last year in Dublin.

Cannot understand why they are not publishing a display list and times, wonder if half the stuff they say they have will be there.

    Info here it seems:

Terrible promotion on their part - I probably would have gone down for it if I could have found out anything concrete about it a few weeks ago... Too late for me now. Would a website really have been too much to ask?

I called them today asking why did they not post a line up of displays, the girl told me she would get them to put it on Facebook etc, bit too late for me as well

Not much here that hasn't been seen before. Oh why can't airshows be like they were up until the early noughties with a least one crowd pulling act at each. None of the acts at this are applicable to the theme. Its like having a Battle of Britain commerative airshow without spitfires.

Not a get out of bed event for me looking at that line up, very surprised that they could not pull a Jet or two from somewhere. Banner towing "Yawn"

What happened to the Hawker Hunter that was mentioned in promo material towards the end of last month?

Well the timing is the problem here. Its airshow season in the UK and Europe. Most bug acts are working elsewhere.

Yup, especially with Waddington on this weekend too.

    Hi all,
Cost really, that's why there are no jets and it's quite hard to find seaplanes bigger than two-seaters (there are about three in Ireland) and the cost of bringing over, say, a Catalina is horrendous (think about paying for 1200 gallons of avgas, for a start) so the lads are making do with what they have. I'm glad someone is doing it!

The Raven formation have had to leave 2 aircraft behind them after some "ground problems"

Well I missed most of the show today. Left home with what I taught was plenty of time but then it took 1 hr and 40 mins to travel the last 5 km into Foynes from the Limerick city side. Then it took 50 minutes just to get out of the car park. So disappointed because I'd say it was an excellent show. Ah well maybe next time.

I was caught in the traffic as well, left plenty early but it took an hour to move 2km in the traffic near foynes. We ended up ditching the car and walking the last 3km into the town and missed the first hour of the display. Apart from that I was most impressed with the Breightling wing walkers, the noise out of the planes rotary engines was fantastic. And the commentator was hilarious!

Did you hear him taking the phone call at one stage and something about cooking salmon, he was great though :D. The wing walkers were excellent.

Ha yeah. And at the end... "No horrible accidents yet but I guess there's still time!"
