Somebody posted a similar question to this before and I read it but I still need convincing.
I have applied a few times for jobs on jobs.ie by submitting my CV and cover note etc. but not once have I been called for an interview and sometimes I don't even get an acknowledgement. I applied for a job on it yesterday and got no acknowledgement.
I know the name of the company so I googled the job but it is not advertised anywhere else online, just on jobs.ie.
I am not saying the site is bogus but is there any way I can contact the company and ask if they received my application? (there is no way of doing that on jobs.ie).

You know the name of the company so ring and ask, tell them you did not get a confirmation from jobs.ie and you just wanted to make sure they received your application, nothing wrong with being eager.

There are a number of reasons why this is happening. I'll mention the three big ones:

    1. The companies are receiving so many applications they aren't bothering with yours.
    2. Your CV and/or cover letter are poor.
    3. The staff at Jobs.ie review your application before sending it on the the employer. If they don't like the look of it, they mark it as rejected and it doesn't get e-mailed to the employer. The employer can, however, log into their account and view your application in the rejected applications pile. Most don't do this though. A lot of applications get rejected.

I hope it isn't number 2. The other reasons I can handle but I'd be fairly fed up if it was something like that. I assumed that every application that is sent via jobs.ie goes to the employer and their HR person vets each CV.
I didn't know jobs.ie goes through them first.

If you take the time to apply then common courtesy would be that you at least get an acknowledgment of this.

    - Employers/Companies should take note of this ignorant attitude and also be aware that there a much better alternatives to crappy jobs.ie.....

OP best of luck with the job hunting - Irishjobs is a decent alternative.

I wouldn't read too much into it.

I've never had a response or got an interview from jobs.ie - it's simply a terribly run site. Don't bother with it.

I've had plenty of interviews though from Monster and Irishjobs in the past using the same CV etc.

Bit behind the times there Mr Loverman :) Jobs.ie and IrishJobs.ie are owned by Axel Springer Publishing since last year

Whoever it's owned by, irishjobs.ie is a far superior site.

These sites don't actively filter applications do they?

Thanks for the replies. Maybe it is my own fault my CV didn't get as far as the employer. I tried to change it around to make it stand out a bit but maybe not enough. My cover note was a little short and to the point I admit.
It's just not knowing what it was that is frustrating.
