    Anyone ever use

    http://www.gummistrada.com/ie

to buy motorcycle tyres online ? seem to be better value than the others and they ship to Ireland.

I know there are other online retailers who ship to Ireland ..

    http://www.moto-tyres.ie/
    http://www.oponeo.ie

but Gummistrada seem to have more choice and better prices. I wonder is there a catch ?

Apart from them being more expensive than a local shop you have to find someone willing to fit them for you. Most tyre fitters make their money on the tyres not the fitting.

Most places wont even fit the tyres unless you buy them there too.

I bought car tyres from this place, shipping is free.

    http://www.eiretyres.com/

I just bought tyres for my bike, i was going to get them there as they were cheaper than elsewhere i saw but ended up getting them in Cotters as even if i found somewhere to fit them it seemed like hassle bringing them in a car and then coming back with the bike. They have a list of places in Dublin that will fit tyres and the cost though id presume most or all of them only fit car tyres..

    Thanks for the feedback.

My local motorcycle shop have a fitting service and price list (wheel on, wheel off etc.) advertised on the door. No requirement to purchase the tyre off them.

Cottermc.ie were more expensive by about 100% than http://www.gummistrada.com/ie for what I wanted. Gummistrada was dearer for shipping from Holland though obviously.

In fact Cottermc.ie have the exact same stuff at the same prices as

    http://www.moto-tyres.ie/
    http://www.oponeo.ie

which suggest they probably use the German crowd Delticom as the supplier behind their website.

Sorry to butt in to your thread OP but in the interests of keeping tyre-related things in the one thread, can anyone recommend a front tyre for a SV650? Commuting, spins, nothing mental.

BT021 always seem to be well regarded but what's the recommendations and rough pricing I should expect?

Also, should I replace both at the same time?

Get a set of PR2's or the new Metzeler Z8's. I would not be mad gone on mixing brands TBH but thats just me. Get the same family of tyre on the front then change the set when the back is gone.

I'm aware of one place that does that, arrogant bastards will never get a cent of business off me for tyres or anything else.

    (a) take the wheels off and bring them in the car, should save a few quid

    (b) put the new tyres around your waist and ride the bike there. Yes I have done this :)

With eiretyres, you can get the tyres delivered to a garage, particularly handy for motorbikes!

I have also done this....bought my two tyres in Crossans and rode all the way home with them around my waist. ;)

Couple of ratchet tie-down straps on the pillion seat, then.

Or get an old Brit bike with 20" rims :)

    Metzeler Z8's

Well my local place didn't have the Z8.only the Z5 at 105.

However, they had Pirelli Diablo at 85, so that just had a 50 mile run in, and holy shmoly, is this what a new front tyre feels like? Heaven. Grip, grip, glorious grip.

Getting a new set of PR4's the weekend in Crossans, I will let yiz all know what they are like over the PR2 and PR3 that I have had in the past.

Loose wheels, or ride in ride out? Did you mean per tyre or a pair of tyres?
