If other commitments allow, I'm thinking of heading over to Lucan on Sunday to give this one a go, for €7.50 maybe not too bad?

Anyone do the one in Tymon? Just curious about organisation, marshalling etc. I know the route, having run the Lucan parkrun twice in the last few weeks; this is 3 laps instead of the parkrun 2, starting from the opposite corner and going in the opposite direction, according to their course map.

Yeah did it alright. Saw about 50-80 runners did the last one. Hand timed. A few marshalls in the right places. Low key event. Good cause. Not too many high calibre runners doing it but enjoyable all the same.

I've signed up for it as a kind of a preparation for the flora 10km the following weekend. It's cheap and cheerful and for a good cause.

There was an increase in numbers for the Lucan event. Seemed like walkers and joggers were in the majority. Some German guy went whizzing off at the start, and it seemed like nobody else was willing or able to follow him? or at least that was what I saw on the first lap

Anyhow, my own time was poor compared to Terenure, and my "pacing" was all over the shop. Ran most of the first lap and a half with the second placed (for most of it) girl, when she dropped back, I was running on my own for the remaining 3.5k, apart from passing a good few walkers and joggers. At least I picked it up near the finish, to get in under 35 for 7.5k, nearly a minute longer than it took me to run 500+m more a week previous  but a reasonable warm up for the BHAA 5 mile tomorrow. Coffee and treats afterwards went down well too.

    Splits (approx.)
    Lap 1 11:10
    Lap 2 13:20
    Lap 3 10:20

    Total 34:50
    Position somewhere between 10th & 12th inclusive...
