What would be the electrical requirements for a 10kw 230v mira elite st shower on a 15 meter run? E.G. Cable size, rcbo size etc.
    Totally hypothetical question.

    45amp rcbo
    10sq t+e
    45 amp isolating switch

    I would think

you'd also have to determine that the installation is suitable for the shower load

    http://m.screwfix.com/p/crabtree-50a-pull-cord-switch-neon/90597

I'd prob fit one of those pullcords

    50amp quality switch
I've used Crabtree on 10sq and they're better than the type that takes a box

And what is the primary function of the isolator on such a shower

Yes, that is what a double pole pull chord is, an isolator.

"An isolator is not the same as a switch. It should only be opened when not carrying current, and has the purpose of ensuring that a circuit cannot become live whilst it is out of service for maintenance or cleaning"

The OPs question has been answered and we have a good explanation of why local isolation should be provided for a fixed appliance such as a shower.

Lets leave it there before the thread becomes a train wreck :)
