    Hi,

I am wondering does anybody know the cost of petrol from traveling from gorey to leopardstown 5 days a week??

It takes roughly an hour to travel but I'm just trying to work out the cost to see if it would be worth my while to commute or not

    Thanks

That's like asking how long is a piece of string tbh, depends on the car, engine size, what sort of driving you are going to be doing.

Work out the mpg for the journey and then you can price it against the cost of fuel

If you put it into the journey planner on the aaroadwatch site it will tell you the cost.
Would be worth trying to carshare.

In our car (toyota corolla)that trip would cost about 17 euro there and back so about 85 euro a week.

I find that cost on the aa site very generic and doesn't take into account factors that can affect the journey.

E.g it will tell me a trip to Belfast will be 25 euro, not considering that in the morning, I'll spend an hour moving at about 5pmh on the last ten miles, and eating fuel

Make an allowance for additional servicing and tyres too, they mount up pretty quickly.

Realistically on an average car for that mileage you're talking about a service every 3-4 months, tyres twice a year.

How many miles is that? Jaysus I'd say it'd be more than a tenner Biko

I know someone who did Gorey to the airport every day, cost them 100e in petrol, plus tolls.

They eventually switched to the Wexford bus, but I don't think that goes through leopardstown.

That said, it stops in D.2 not far from the Luas, so OP you could take that bus, then luas to leopardstown
