    Hi everyone,

Shanew and I have created a database of links that will allow you to access 550+ entries for Irish directories. All kinds: free, ones you have to pay for access, scanned, transcribed, ebooks, the works.

Hopefully it will be useful for genealogists and historians alike.

Never knew about the directories on the PRONI website - nice to see some physical evidence of something long believed in the family.

The phone directory for 1913 you have linked in under Dublin also has a few regional areas available but they only seem to link it off the last page: http://www.lennonwylie.co.uk/1913PhoneList13.htm

    Superb. Wonderful asset. Many thanks.
(You do realise that you have hugely eroded Boardies' free time, most of which will now be spent clicking on the links you have thoughtfully provided!)

thanks - I was wondering about that, some of the pages I looked through seemed to be just public phones, so skipped past them. A closer look shows many more exchanges in towns, some with only a handful of subscribers e.g Limavady, Magherafelt, Skerries, Navan, Youghal etc

I'll update those links and add a few new county entries

I don't see the huge collection of part-scanned Thoms that SDCC has on the Dublin list; might want to specify that its South Dublin only though: http://source.southdublinlibraries.ie/simple-search?query=thoms&submit=Go . Goes as late as the 50s.

many thanks, will check those, had forgotten about them..might list the towns/areas in the description e.g. for 1881 : Clondalkin, Lucan, Palmerstown, Rathcoole, Rathfarnham, Tallaght and Templeogue
