Been using Parcel motel since it started, no issues, except that if two items arrive at a motel for you they put them in seperate "rooms"..costing you twice..
So anyways i get a txt on saturday telling me that an oversize item is in the depot for me..they close at 1 on a saturday...i get the txt at 2.15....now i have to get time off work to collect or pay the 10.50 to get it delivered...either way theyre quids in ...7 plus tolls (7.80) and petrol if i collect or 17.50 if they deliver...not happy...should open late or all day saturday...

I don't see what the problem is? It seems to process worked exactly like it is meant to work. Of course if you receive two parcels they should charge twice as it's twice the work. To be honest, I wouldn't have expected the depot to be open on a Saturday at all.

Its only twice the work because the courier has to open two compartments instead of putting them into the same one...its common sense to me...

Fair enough on the saturday opening thing IF they txt you well before 1 o clock though...i live in wicklow 45 mins from the depot...Why bother txting me after they have closed..??...someone must be working all day..

Did you contact them? I find they're pretty helfpul.
regarding the 2 lockers. I don't think you're being reasonable. The system is clearly not designed for that

You are using the service twice, you pay twice. Simples.

What about processing the parcels when they arrive in Belfast or Dublin. Labeling them checking the correct address name combo, sorting them into the correct van. I've no idea how many parcels they receive for pm each day but I'd imagine linking to parcels to the same person and locker would be far more effort than its worth.

Did you not realise it was oversized? Hardly their fault if you didn't.

So not sure why you are making a deal out of paying the delivery or petrol and tolls. Do you think they should deliver for free or refund your costs because you didn't anticipate the oversize charge?

Don't use the service if you don't understand how it works.

Re the text at 14:15, for all you know it may have gotten to the depot at 14:00, so may not have been available for collection up to 13:00.

Yeah, I'd say they'll probably declare a special dividend with the super profits they're making from you

Why did you order something that's oversized if you weren't happy to pay Nightlines charge? Why didn't you just get the seller to courier it direct to you and pay them a lot more?

And of course they should stay open late on Saturdays for you Max, of course they should. Does your Mum still cut the crusts off your toast for you as well? :D

I don't get all them drama either.
They open 8am to 9pm Monday to Friday so plenty of time to pickup and it's not like tolls are free at weekends either

Is the depot really open that late?

I had 4 items arrive on the one day once, and paid 4 times. It would be "nice" if they doubled up, but I used the service 4 times, so am not surprised to pay 4 times.

Also got an oversize parcel once, and they sent it to the Finglas depot for pickup, even through I use a Galway City locker, but a quick phone call had it in the Galway depot the next day.

Still a fantastic service and great value for money

Really can't complain then. Id have thought it be 9-5 or possibly 9-6. Must remember that in future I always collected it during working hours but later would be handy

As someone who doesn't use parcel motel (there isn't one near me) can I just ask what the op meant about getting them to deliever the parcel.

Can you order something to be delievered to Parcel Motel and pay extra for nightline to pick it up a deliever it to your address?

Delivery to an alternative address - Any address in Ireland including Northern Ireland. A supplement of €10.50 in addition to the €3.50 Parcel Motel charge, so €14.00 in total per parcel.

yes, if you cant pick it up from the motel on time you can pay extra to have it delivered to your house

so you order an item and you know its oversized. Parcel Motel get it Saturday afternoon into their depot and you are saying its a rip off?

How? Please enlighten me, cos I can't see it!

I've had a few large printers delivered from UK - I order on a weekend or a Monday allowing 2 days to get to NI and an extra day to get to Dublin. Worst case scenario its in parcel motel on Friday (usually Thursday) and I collect Saturday.

If I order on a Tuesday I know there's a possibility it won;t get to PM til Saturday or Monday.

    Quite simple! Quite brilliant!
