Around 50-60/t fresh depending on barley prices that year. Haven't priced any thus year yet. Give about 4-5 KGS DM to winter milkers. You can only buy 24t loads though

Brewers worked out at 152 per ton dm here

    Pitted 5 load last week

Freely available as they rang to see if I would pit

Mixed with citrus 5 ton per 30 ton load

Citrus cost 196 ton collected from storage depot which saved double haulage

Trafford gold too expensive and the same amount of wastage which means double the dm wastage

    Never tried eornagold

    Kw forages

Not sure how you will get it to mix. Say contractor may bring bucket and shake bucket fulls on each layer.
Will the whole crop soak up the juices from the brewers?

Anytime I added beet pulp to grass silage I just threw a couple of buckets with the tractor loader on the loads as they were tipped and were mixed as the loader pushed into the pit.

Its a brilliant feed. My father used to feed that and grass in the autumn in old farm when we had no feeder. Gave cows a serious boost. Had a ring feeder in yard and just dumped a bucket full in each feeder at both milking. Didn't need meal.
Can't be very wide in pit. 6-8ft at most. Should work okay with whole crop because my father said he used to just pit it on its own in a clamp

That's what I'd be hoping for,

Ya have put brewers in with grass silage, also with maize. Check with contractor first, you need a bucket for the brewers. If they use the wide fold up rake for silage they won't like hopping down to disconnect hose pipes every load to put on a bucket. You need a fair bit of space to tip the brewers beside the pit too. It's ok to get the brewers a few days before cutting as long as you cover it properly.
Brewer's is a great source of protein too, transport costs is what kills it for me.

Anybody any experience of mixing soya hulls and brewers through the silage as it's going in?
