Anyone have any advice on where to get good value on a new lawnmower, mulcher with a briggs and stratton engine. Don't mind travelling within reason.

    Thanks

buy one with an alloy deck. steel decked mulchers rust away because the acidic grass sticks to the deck. With a side discharge or bagger it leaves the deck area but with a mulcher it cakes up and the steel rots away after a short while.
of course an alloy deck mulcher will be more expensive.
Husqvarna do or did a nice pro quality mulcher but it wasn't cheap.
Masport also did a really nice one.
    Bolens do steel deck mulchers.
These days it is easier to find a 3 in 1 lawnmower than a mulcher.
