I went to look at the i10 today and was quoted € 14,495 for the deluxe mode. I have the pricelist printed out by the dealer and it seems like all their cars have gone up by € 1,000

However, after checking Hyundai.ie the price for the i10 deluxe should be € 13,495

Any idea of what the story is ? I will probably ask the salesman but to be honest this has put me off. Shane as I was very keen but now instantly I don't like the sound of that.

Metallic paint and delivery charges added on to the base price?

No as all prices include delivery and mettalic paint is another € 300 or something on top. This doesn't make any sense as I was told metallic paint was on top of the € 14, 495 quoted

There are usually lovely but not this one. Sicvk of it. It has been trouble one after the other since last may. Today the icing cake, I need to spend € 1,700 on it including a one year tax. Foir a second car that's hardly used, its not worth it. I will never buy a second hand car again, I want a brand new one with a warranty and know its history.

Sounds like the classic put it on to take it back off manoeuvre. Price around a number of dealers before making a decision on one.

OP, have you considered a Kia Picanto? Both Kia and Hyundai are sister companies, so they are based on the same design. Both have good, albeit different warranties. Hyundai have an unlimited 5 year, but Kia have a 150k km limited 7 year, which may be better if you are doing low mileage.

I went about the task of looking to purchase an i30 or Ceed for a January registration this year. I found an instant difference in both sets of dealers, having checked best prices with at least five of each. The level of discounts and call backs was drastically less with the Hyundai dealers. I am assuming their large market segment and popularity have something to do with this, whereas Kia have a smaller share so are more keen to do business.

Thanks Delly, I was also considering the Picanto but I just think the kia is slightly better looking. However it seems the kiua is nowv€ 1,500 less with a longer warranty.

Also the boot seemed slightly bigger in the i10 but I can't remember . . .

As micro/city cars go I do think the i10 is the best looking & it seems to review very well.

The Citigo/Up! Might be worth a look?

The Citigo Elegance us just over €13k.
A family member got one & they love it.

Not 100% sure, but I think the picanto is still old/current model based on the old i10, while it i10 is an all new just launched model.

That's true gooner, but the Hyundai shares engines with the picanto. The future picanto will share platform with the current i10.
I wouldn't get hung up on it though, and its worth pointing out that neither the i10 or picanto score 5 ncap stars - improved safety is often the selling point of a new platform.

Spending 15k eu to save 1700eu, I guess each to its own. Just dont expect comfort, quality, practicality from i10. Brand new and Warranty does not really mean much. It can all go sidesways and dealer will just go "deal with it".

As on topic itself: I never sow a single dealer, who would charge same prices as website does for brand new cars, there are always"buts", its like websites are from universe next door.
Best bet is to shop around and try to get quotes from other dealers. Even if try other brands and still say "I am offered i10 for that price, can you do better?".

Ex. Works price of the i10 deluxe is 13,495, so delivery is on top.

Hyundai do seem to have a high delivery charge, which could well be 1,000 retail (think our charge isn't too far off that).

Wouldn't pay a grand for delivery, but it gets complicated when there is a trade in.

Drove the i10 on the open weekend.I'd read great reviews on the new model,so said to myself must give it a go.I must say I was very impressed with it for a car of it's size.Just wasn't in the market for a new car.

I went for a Corsa in the end. I owned one before and in 7 years nothing ever went vwrong. I never had to turtn the key a second time to start it, plus I was offered a very good deal on a pretty reg one with 6 kms on the clock, all the toys , 5 year warranty and 3 year free servicing. It actually was a better deal than the Hyundai. I do know its about to be replaced but according to my own research its more like a facelift and I'm not after having the latest model at all times. Peace of mind is what I'm buying. Very happy, lived it instantly. Nice alloys, nice midnight blue body paint, Bluetooth, . . . 😀
