    Hi just wondering if anyone on here can help me out with the way the pairs handicap system works as i have no idea how to do it i play off 17 my playing partner plays off 11 if any one can help it would be great thanks

    It can vary from club to club. Best to check with your own club before proceeding further :)

    Nope, it stays the same in every affilated club as per CONGU regulations, what is unclear from the OP is the nature of event, i.e fourball, foursomes etc.?
    Note handicaps for scrambles aren't covered by CONGU.

    4-ball matchplay - lowest to scratch, then 3/4 the handicap difference. Example
    11+17 play 8+18. 8 plays off scratch, 18 plays off 7, 11 plays off 2 & 17 also plays off 7.

    are you sure? for the last few years the 3/4 rule is gone in my club and in any match play i've played in it has been full difference. mind you, i've only played singles, not fourball

    Yes, I'm certain, it's full difference in singles alright but 3/4 difference is mandatory for four-ball for affiliated clubs in Ireland
