I have a driving licence which will expire in a couple of months from now. If I renew my licence sooner rather than later, will the new licence be valid until 10 years after the expiry date of my current licence, or will it be valid until 10 years after the date on which I renew my licence?

You can only renew within 3 months of the time before your current one expires. And like the nct, it will expire 10 years from the expiry date of your current one.

So if you apply 2 months early, your new one would be valid for 10 years and 2 months.

10 years and 2 months I suppose you meant.

Anyway - that's the most stupid system that could be invented. Inability to renew earlier than 3 months before expiry date must have been an idea of utter idiot.

Hence also if you have C or D category, you will need medical cert to renew, and therefore your licence will be valid for 5 years from date of medical cert issue date.

Yeahs it's ridiculous it's the same price. Also strange that when you get one of the new licences, the expiry for truck or bus will be 5 years but the car or bike doesn't expire for 10.
