Hey lads I'm upgrading from my 02 laguna shortly, I was pretty much sold on the Peugeot 407 1.6 hDi 06 model. But I recently heard they are a nightmare and was advised not to go for it, I'm not great with cars but if someone in the know could shed some light on this I would appreciate it,
    Thanks

If you could stretch your budget you could get a reliable Renault like this or similar.

The 407 is not a complete nightmare if in decent condition but finding something decent is the hard part.

Thanks for the reply lads, the wife loves the 407, I could go to 4k tops but that would be my limit. I've also been looking at nissan primera's some nice one for that price and seems to get good reviews too..
I would really like the 407 and I know it's hard to find a good second hand car but this problem goes with any car I'm sure!! They all have there problems.
Like the laguna when I got it, I was told to stay well away from Renault they where nothing but trouble but in 3 years it's been excellent and not a problem with it. It seems the only bad news you get about cars is from people who have had bad times with there's. But there are a lot of people who have had no problems.

It's an absolute nightmare I never thought buying aa used car would be so hard..
    Thanks for the input.

The Primera is not a nice car in any way and don't think I've ever heard any good reviews for one.

Something like this possibly. Nice car and average enough reliability.

That particular one has no test but is a good example of one.
