I'm thinking of a new bike for a season of sportives (including la Marmotte) and have narrowed the search down to the Trek Domane 4.5 or Lapierre Sensium 400. Mostly interested in a bike that will give a comfortable ride for a long day in the saddle.

Both are similarly priced, although the Lapierre seems to have slightly better components (full Ultegra, better wheels, etc). I think that the Lapierre also looks a bit better.

I've managed to find plenty of positive reviews of the Trek Domane, but am drawing something of a blank when it comes to users experience of the Sensium 400.

Would really love to hear from anyone that has the Lapierre.

    Hey John,

We have a LaPierre in the household here, lovely machine but not a Sensium 400 unfortunately. There are several reviews of the 400 online, all positive that I've seen.

My thinking is that if the price is similar enough the wheels should be more than enough reason to go for the LaPierre. Full Ultegra vs part 105 is bonus.

    HTH.

I have one ... Can't fault it ...full carbon with Ultegra. Came with Mavic Equipe wheels which served me well for seven years!. I'd still be using them but for the fact that I upgraded to FFWD Carbon rims.
