Can anyone explain the formula to calculate what i have on a module and what i need for example

    56.50 % for 20% CA
    64.17% for 20% CA

so how do i find out what i have in total going into my final exam which is worth 60%

I think if my calculations are right i need 15% on the last exam so how many marks is 15% on a 40% exam ? If thats correct

    (0.565 x 20)=11.3
    (0.6417 x 20)=12.834
    (11.3 + 12.834)=24.137

Assuming you need to get 40% overall to pass the module, then you need to get (40 - 24.137)/60=0.2643, i.e. you need to get 26.43% on your final exam.

I'm gonna forget the decimals for convenience.

You got 56 and 64%, call it 60% on average. If that is 60% of 40% of the grand total, then it's 40 / 10 * 6, which is 24.

What is the overall pass mark? Is it 40%? (Is that what you meant by "a 40% exam"?)

If so, and if you've already got 24% of the total, then you need to score 16 more to reach an overall total of 40. That is, 16 out of the 60 that are available. To express that as a percentage, it's 16/60 * 100, or 27%.

However, that's just to make sure that you score a grand total of 40%. It is possible - and even likely - that you are obliged to score at least 40% on each individual element in order to pass.

    Thank you for the help,

Just to clarify a overall score of 40% is needed to pass

so both our calculations wore right :) i calculated that i needed 16% by this method

    CA1 56 * 20% = 11%
    CA2 64 * 20% = 12%

Round off to 24% going into the final 40% exam.. So how many MARKS would i need here out of 100 on the paper to gain the 16% that i need,

Just so i can know how I'm doing as i go :)

    Are you taking the piss?

26% of a hundred marks is 26 marks...
