That would be a filter basket.

You should measure the portafilter first to see why mm you want to get the basket in.

Re: choking the machine. Could be the pump is sh*te on your machine. Mind you can choke the best of machines. How much ground coffee are you dosing in the machine? How often do you, or have you ever cleaned the shower screen and group head/gasket area?

I'd hazard a guess that the choking may be due to buying preground that is ground a tad too fine for the particular machine. Buying preground means you can't tweak the grind yourself at home to match your own unique needs.

yep it is a sh1te machine but for E125 4-5 yrs ago it has served me well and saved me well over E1000 (more probably) I have cleaned out most of what is accessible with a damp cloth - iv'e never taken it apart - Ill have a look under the bonnet later today.
I use the medium basket as the large one is knackered and the small one is for pods.

Its happened before with lavazza coffee - i think it too finely ground and seems to clog it up.

Anyone know where I can get a filter basket off the shelf?

    Thanks all!
